Wu-Dan; warrior woman character in Chinese opera; Nei-Hu, Taipei, Taiwan.

My sweet mother took me to the Academy of Performing arts in Nei-Hu one afternoon to watch a Chinese opera and have a tour of the museum to attempt to understand an art that uses multiple ways of communicating a story – from singing, sound effects, colors, facepaint, body language…and of course, words.

This image is of the wu-dan in the story – a female warrior.
